New Haven County resident 58-year-old Alexander Tamdemir, of Ansonia, was arrested on Friday, Dec. 8, said Det. Richard Bango of the Shelton Police.

According to Bango, the arrest stems from a complaint a 33-year-old woman made to the Shelton Police that she received a five-page letter in the mail from someone professing his love and admiration for her.

The letter mentioned the victim by name and made remarks about driving by her house and waiting for her boyfriend’s vehicle to leave, Bango said.

The victim also said that she received flowers at her home in the recent past and believed they were from the same person, police said.

She also told police that a man by the name of Alex made several attempts to friend request her on social media. She said when she would block the friend requests, Alex would create another account and send additional requests.

An investigation revealed the man who sent the flowers, wrote the letter and the friend requests to her was Tamdemir, Bango said.

Bango said it was confirmed that Tamdemir did know where the victim lived and drove to her house several times. It was also discovered that Tamdemir and the victim went to the same gym and this is where he would see her regularly.

Tamdemir was charged with stalking and released on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Dec. 11.
